Semester   : FF115 III B
Exercise    : Final Assignment (Final Update)

STEAMPUNK

- SO THIS IS IT -

The final update for Digital Ink and Painting. It's been a challenge, with all the sweat and tears. Finally, we've reached the end of the class, which also brings us to the end of the semester (aside from the CTU's final exam that we still have to face after this).

Concept art did amaze me for a really long time since I stumbled upon it a lot on the internet. There are so many talented artists out there that could easily produce a good concept art in mere hours, if not minutes.

Since I had the chance to produce one myself, I finally did it! And boy, it's been so much challenge with all the stuff and assignments that had to be done too like Fundamentals of 3D Animation and Visual Arts (and the due date for three of them are exactly at the same day!).

Without further ado, these are the final progress and the final outcome of the assignment, which brings us to to the Week 13th update.

FINAL PRODUCT:
A GENTLEMAN'S PATIENT.

PROGRESS:
[PS] Adding a factory on top of the hill.

[PS] Placing some gears on the side of the middle mountain.

[PS] Making the gears look more Steampunk-ish.

[PS] Blending the gears with the environment.

     [PS] More gears!

[PS] Adding some gears near the factory.

[PS] More gears for the hill.

[PS] Adding some little cylindrical tanks on the hill.

     [PS] Blend them with fogs.

[PS] Putting the robot's head and shoulder onto the canvas.

[PS] Blending it with the surrounding light.

[PS] Making the Tall Lincoln Top Hat using various parts from the internet.

[PS] Oh, the hands and the body of the robot.

[PS] Finished the robot, from head to toe.

[PS] Giving the robot a cane.

[PS] Putting some little details like pipes and gears.

     [PS] Gear land and walls!

[PS] Now we're inside a cave.

[SAI] Adding some details and minor fixes.

DONE!

TIME-LAPSE VIDEO:

It's not a complete time-lapse since I kept forgetting to record the process. Still, I tried my best to catch every moment I could record for my process of completing the assignment.

- CONCLUSION -

I've always been amazed by so many artists that could produce awesome artworks only by using Photoshop. Since the moment I'm holding my own Wacom Tablet for the first time, SAI is the first drawing software I'm using, even until now. It's a great software, but not a perfect one. So, learning some other software to cover up those limitations is a great way to combat those problems. This class really opened my eyes that we can't really depend on only one software. This class also shows us that there are many ways to make a great art digitally.

With the help of our beloved and chill lecturer, it's a great class that we can improve ourselves more and gain something from it without feeling so much stress.

And this concludes the end of the Digital Ink and Painting update.

Thank you.
