The final product of FFA113 : FOD

- THE FINAL ASSIGNMENT OF FOD -
This artwork exhibits from the understanding of elements and principles of design. The elements of design that was applied in this artwork are shape, form, colour and value. The principles of design, on the other hand, are movement and emphasis, which are also applied in this artwork.

- SYNOPSIS -
The artwork entitled PolyGone (Polygon + Gone) is about a girl that suffers from dep͖͔͕̤̻̟̅r̃̽͐e̜͈̐͋̈́ͯs͕̦̠̟̎̑ͣͤ̉ͮ͆s̘͇̬̲͔i͚̹͖̎͒͆͂o̭̩̤͈͉̝͑ͪ̓͋ͪ̋͒n̺̻̹̺̖̽́̂͐̀. Most of the victims that suffer from depression are because of various reasons, explained differently by different sufferers. Some would say "it feels as if you are drowning, except you can see everyone around you breathing" or "it feels like you are a ghost, not a part of this world". Some would also explain "it's like being stuck inside a box that you can't get out of". Simply said, depression is "a total loss of who you are".

As I've experienced depression myself, I know how devastating it was being in that kind of situation. So I tried to at least explain a little on how I felt, or maybe some of the women out there when slipped into depression in this piece of artwork.

"͜Dep͜res͝s̶i͢ơn f͜e͏els li͞ke a̡s ͡if͝ ̀ỳo̵u҉r͢ ͢bod͡ỳ i̧s s͟hatter͞ìnǵ ͝i͜n̷t̨o ́sm̴all ̀pie̢ce̕ś,̸ ҉

- ABOUT THE ARTWORK -
The artwork shows a blonde haired girl which is used as the subject for depression, shattered into small, polygonal pieces. The shattering body of her describes how devastating is the result of her depression.

The shattered arms of the girl.

Some say that the most important part of a human body is the head and the heart, which is emphasized in the artwork as the two most "broken" part of her.

The character's broken mind.                               The character's broken heart.

While two of her most important part is badly damaged, her body "structure" became incomplete, resulting in her whole body starting to crumble apart, breaking into smaller, polygonal pieces. Even though the character's body is breaking down, the character tries to hold herself, her body that is falling apart, together, preventing it from breaking up completely. It is as if it's the character's last resort before her body cannot hold on and shatters completely.

The character's left hand is trying to hold her head while her right hand is holding her body as both of her attempts are to prevent her whole body from shattering completely.

The principles of design, emphasis is also applied into the character's hears as the hears was coloured using pink.

The mannequin-like hand of the character.

As for her mannequin-like body, it symbolizes on how some of the men watches the woman as just a tool for their own satisfaction, a tool without the need of concern of their feelings and emotions. You could say that man is the cause of her depression. This can also conclude on why her heart is damaged.

The character's golden hair.

Gold, being the symbol of royalty, luxury, and pride, is used for the character's hair colour, to symbolize the character's own pride. If you look closely at her hair, there are parts where the golden hair is fading and turns to white, which means that her pride is fading, as men were the cause.
